In mid april of 2016 Newcastle University Sepak Takraw Club will be hosting the first Sepak Takraw Tournament, to much anticipation. With interest from Germany, Malaysia, Sweden and other parts of England, the tournament is shaping up to be historic. The talks began early November with club President John Haswell pushing for dates and contacts. After he put the feelers out to London Takraw clubs the interest flurrished. The announcement was made early this week and the date is set for the 16th and 17th of April. The date preceded the following statement from club president John Haswell:
'Newcastle University are proud to be hosting their first ever Sepak Takraw tournament!
We have only started the club this year but would love to promote the sport further and so we would love to invite any teams or individuals to come and play with us this April!
We will be playing across a full weekend with hopefully a nice meal with everyone there on the Saturday night, so should be a great weekend for all!
If you are interested, please do comment on this page and state whether you are part of a team or would be coming as an individual. Thanks very much!'
Training continues to develop in the Newcastle camp, with players showing they want that first team spot!
To contact Club President John Haswell about the tournament you can email him at [email protected]
More news to come.
